Larry and Shelly Parfitt Home
The homeowners worked with Zero Energy Plans LLC and Clifton View Homes of Coupeville to create an award-winning modern Craftsman style “aging-in-place” home. The main floor is all accessible, including a master bedroom en suite. Designed and built to use Zero Energy over the course of a year, with triple-pane windows, structural insulated panel (SIP) walls and roof, radiant floor heat, and a solar array on the south-facing roof slope. Storm water run-off goes to a rain garden and retention tanks for landscape irrigation. Slate tile in a quilt design is at the entry and fireplace surround. A nook for the wine rack, bar and wine fridge are built-in. Local vendors were used, with Craftsman light fixtures from Sheely’s, custom built-ins by Wood House Custom Cabinetry and cabinetry glass by Island Sash & Door. Upstairs is Shelly’s office and quilting space, a kitchenette, a second master bedroom en suite, and covered outdoor living deck with views of Cap Sante and Mount Baker. The attic level is furnished for grand-kids’ visits and extra storage.
