Dr. Samuel G. Brooks, 1887 – 1944 (57 years old)
This picture was taken Dec. 1944, one month before he died of a heart attack, while waiting on a patient. Dr. Brooks was so well loved, not only was he an outstanding physician, but a friend to everyone he met. At his funeral, the Presbyterian Church could only hold a portion of the guests, around 500 people were outside going nearly to 12th and M Ave.
This picture was taken in his yard at 1914 – 8th Street, Anacortes, by 17 year old Alice (Strom) Brooks when Tom Brooks, her boyfriend at the time, was home for a few days before being sent to China, Burma, and India in WWII.
